Cute pretty brindle amstaff April in danger@Brooklyn kill shelter in Brooklyn, New York For Sale

April was brought in as a stray surrender, so her past behavior in a home is unknown. At intake it was noted that April was panting heavily throughout the intake, and made several attempts to flee from the room. During her evaluation April displayed similar behaviors seen during intake. She was panting and was in constant movement, but once relaxed she allowed the assessor to conduct all items without issue. She was fearful during the tag interaction and attempted to exit the room, and only showed minimal interest in the resource items. April appears to be uncomfortable when interacting with human handlers, and did need a great deal of coaxing in addition to a slow approach for her to become comfortable with the assessor, so the department feels April would be best suited for an experienced adopter that can slowly introduce April into her new home and allow her time to adjust at her own pace.
Exam Type GROUP BEHAVIOR
When off leash with other dogs, April is nervous with a tucked tail when initially in the yard. She is tolerant when greeted and will approach the other dog to greet. After a bit of time, she wanders the yard with tail untucked 4/19 Update April continues to be nervous and timid while off leash. 4/22 Update April does well with calm dogs but gets nervous when greeted by a more forward dog. 4/23 April is more comfortable exploring when with a calm male dog.
