A volunteer writes: Simba has the most beautiful sandy brindled coat, with a grayish-white mask around his face that almost gives him the appearance of an elder dog. While he is far from old, Simba definitely seems full of wisdom! When I first met him he was wagging his tail in his cage and eager to come out, but very unsure about (and very skilled at dodging) the slip leash this stranger was trying to put over his neck! With the help of a staff member that would fit in with the best lassoing cowboys, Simba and I were off! He pulls strongly to get outside, but once he's relieved himself he is easy on the leash. He loves treats and is very friendly. He enjoys being pet and wags his tail when we pass a group of children. During our walk I became so smitten with Simba I forgot about his earlier leash-shyness and decided to play with him in the yard. Simba loves to run and gets the zoomies! He is so handsome and really majestic when he runs - he has a broad stance and the best smile! When it was time to go in, Simba had other plans! He would let me approach him and love on him, but at the first sight of that leash Simba play bowed and galloped off in the other direction! It took me what felt like an eternity to catch him, but in that time I learned several things about him. Simba loves fetch; he brings the ball right back and will drop it and then push it towards me with his nose. Simba will let someone he's just met attempt to tackle him and stay friendly! Simba seems very appropriate and friendly around other dogs, as he greeted several that passed us. And finally, Simba is very smart and good at reading people! I was finally able to catch him when he caved and needed to get some water. Simba quickly figured out when he should welcome the leash - he is no problem to take out of his cage now, and though he's still reluctant to go back, we've managed to have several play sessions in the yard without another "Marley and Me" incident! The more time I spend with Simba the more fond of him I grow - I love this dog! Please come meet him at Brooklyn ACC
